Flaco taking flight six minutes past sunset. Witnessing him stretch his wings and reveal his majestic six-foot wingspan was a sight to behold. It became a daily highlight.
Capturing these precious seconds proved to be a considerable challenge. I had to anticipate his flight path and position myself in the perfect spot. As he was hidden behind leaves, I was unable to pre-focus on him. I had to be ready, camera poised in front of my face, to shoot at the first sign of his ascent. Once airborne, the real challenge began—getting the camera to lock focus. The equipment struggled to distinguish between the leafy background and the fast-moving subject. I tried every night for three weeks, and only four times did I succeed. This is one of those rare moments.
